HbbTV seeks standardisation
Munich’s Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT), which is developing the Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV protocol (HbbTV), has submitted the HbbTV 1.1.1 specification draft to international standards body, ETSI.
When ETSI has processed the application it will be set to the Broadcast Joint Technical Committee for approval, hopefully by the end of January.

iPlayer heads for 80 million users a month
There were 79.3 million requests for the BBC’s iPlayer in October, making it a record month for the service, which launched in 2007.
On average, there were 2.6 million requests for TV and radio programmes each day during the month.

London-based On Demand Group is to provide video-on-demand (VOD) content and services to Germany cable TV operator, Kabel BW, through its On Demand Deutschland joint venture with Tele München Gruppe.

Carphone Warehouse to sell Fetch TV SmartBoxes

Cuatro and Flumotion launch 3D WebTV

Freesat iPlayer beta to launch
