Velocix in live streaming deal with MediaCorp

by Jan Harris

Cambridge-based Velocix has secured a contract to provide MediaCorp, a national broadcaster in Singapore, with live broadcast streaming services via its Digital Asset Delivery Network.

MediaCorp’s viewers will receive live, on-line, bi-weekly episodes of talent search program, Star Search, and international game show, Deal or No Deal, with Velocix’s delivery technology providing multiple live video feeds from both stage and backstage areas.

The service provided by Velocix will help MediaCorp cope with a substantial increase in demand from viewers watching live on-line episodes of its TV programs, together with an increase in subscriptions to its VOD service MOBTV (MediaCorp On-line Broadband TV).

The Content Delivery Network provided by Velocix is designed to meet the delivery needs of rich media content owners, while also allowing them to manage and analyse their asset libraries through the digital distribution chain.

MediaCorp, a pioneer in the development of Singapore’s broadcasting industry, today operates a range of media platforms including television, radio, newspapers, magazines, movies and digital media.
