Livestation introduces Mac player and new features

by Alan Harten

Livestation offers live, free, Internet-based TV viewers can watch over 600 free channels. Some of these are restricted to geographical areas especially in the US and UK.

They have developed partnerships with many worldwide broadcasters; many of these are news and current affairs stations that broadcast worldwide via cable and satellite equipment.

These include Al Jazeera, BBC World News, Bloomberg Television, EuroNews, France 24, i>Tele, Russia Today and BBC World Service.

The system is based on software technology developed in partnership with Microsoft Research; Livestation also offers interactive social networking features combined with TV viewing.

It has taken Livestation a large amount of time and effort to launch its Mac service, which has similar features to its existing offerings, but also offers a chat function that lets people view live TV while chatting to others about what they are watching.

This new feature will soon also be launched on the existing windows platform.

Livestation considers that the new features offered with the Mac version are an important step in moving towards the next generation of interactive online streaming.

They are also preparing other new features to be launched on both platforms in the near future.
