Sigma Designs powers IPv6 set top boxes
Sigma Designs have announced that one of their solutions, the integrated SMP8654 media processor, will be used in Advanced Communications’ IPv6 set-top boxes.
The companies have also announced a partnership to develop IPTV set-top boxes, for the Japanese market, again using Sigma Designs SMP8654 media processor, alongside the Adcom’s iSense IPTV software platform.
Sigma Designs’ chips will be integrated into the Adcom’s new iSense platform, which in turn will power the IPv6 STBs, which are available with a software development kit.
Advanced Communications’ IPv6 STBs feature a range of supported features such as multicasting, video-on-demand (VOD), recording and playback functionality and digital rights management (DRM), and process multiple streams of content, up to 20 Mbps.
If that’s not enough the product has been accredited by the Association of Radio Industries and Businesses, allowing customers to come to the conclusion that it is above the average standard of similar solutions.
The Sigma SMP8654 media processor features a wealth of assets including powerful multimedia processing, intelligent content security system and a variety of on-chip CPUs.
Sigma’s SMP8654: The Next Generation IPTV SoC Solution powerful multimedia processing, robust content security system, multiple on-chip CPUs, and a full complement of system peripherals.
