Wi-Fi HD Chip Means 4 Different TV Shows at a Time
Celeno Communications, supplier of semiconductors for multimedia Wi-Fi home networking applications based in Israel, have announced that they have produced a new Wi-Fi system, which is a somewhat different system as it can be found on a chip.
The CL1300 is a chip that allows service providers to supply customers with up to four concurrent and different HD streams through the company’s OptimizAIR technology.
When the new chip made its début at an industry show in Amsterdam last week, it met with considerable interest from providers.
The chip will allow householders to have HD TV in up to four different rooms of the home, and each one can be tuned to a different station.
This has been possible for some time with wires, but the drawbacks are that the cabling can be expensive to install and there is no portability, so you can’t easily change location or just move outside into the garden on a nice day.
The new chip system is Wi-Fi and is not tied to cables, so can be moved at will.
There are existing chips such as the 802.11n but this is not capable of carrying HD.
The new chip is easily installed in the home with simple plug & play facilities from any device.
The system can send signals to all kinds of devices.
A laptop can receive a signal from a set top box, for example, so a show could be recorded on a hard drive and played back later.
