TELUS TV Calls on CopperGate HomePNA 3.1

by Alan Harten

TELUS is a large scale Canadian telco turning over $9.4 billion a year.

They have over 11 million customers on their books, over half of which are wireless customers.

That is why CopperGate Communications are very exited about the new deal they have struck with the company.

CopperGate have been charged with supplying TELUS with their HomePNA 3.1 technology.

This will be integrated into the millions of set top boxes and other residential access gateways for the company’s TELUS TV services.

One of the advantages of the HomePNA 3.1 for TELUS, is that it is capable of being deployed on either coax cables or even regular phone wires.

The company already supplies many big name telcos with the system including US giant AT&T.

CopperGate chipsets are the first to be approved as ITU G.9954 compliant and are recognised as having very good diagnostic and remote management features.

TELUS TV needs the capability to expand its service, which has 200 channels and is totally digital.

They also have Video on demand as a standard feature.
