Pirelli uses Sigma processor in STB
by Grant Draper
Sigma Designs have agreed on a deal with Pirelli and their IPTV STB (set-top-box) to incorporate Sigmas SMP8634 media processor, which will distribute broadband solutions.
The growing demand for IPTV for the domestic user will see a parallel demand for an increase in capacity, performance and speed for IPTV technical related manufacturers.
Pirellis choose Sigma’s single-chip technology and support legacy and new encoding standards such as H.264 and VC-1 at both standard and high definition, to support their STB.
