Concurrent’s BEYONDEMAND Collection

by Alan Harten

Concurrent had a lot to show off at last week’s IBC 2008, with a strong selection of new ideas to demonstrate to interested parties.

They brought with them a whole range of solutions based on Linux technologies.

At the forefront of the wares they were peddling is what they called BEYONDEMAND solutions.

They had available the MediaHawk 4500, a content delivery system which can support unlimited simultaneous on-demand streams over a wide variety of transport modes.

It also make use of Gatling Resilient Streaming Technology, which sees failures and automatically sends signals down a different route for uninterrupted viewing of VOD programming for viewers.

The other items that were demonstrated included Everstream interactive data collection and reporting software, as well as Concurrent’s Myriad™ Advanced Advertising Solution.

On a crammed stall the company also presented its other leading edge utilities including:

  • Real Time Catcher™ 2000, a time delay device that is capable of starting playback as little as five seconds after broadcast;
  • MediaStore™ 2000, a high-performance storage array designed to support a wide variety of on-demand and time-shifted television applications;
  • MediaCache™ 1000, the first in a line of storage devices based on non-volatile flash memory technology;
  • ReportOne™ for VOD, providing viewership metrics across all of an operator’s on-demand platforms and markets;
  • ReportOne™ for Audience Measurement, providing a series of analytical report and dashboard templates for measuring iTV service consumption across channels and interactive applications while adhering to and protecting privacy.
