BBC Three announces online service
BBC Three has announced plans to simultaneously broadcast its programmes over the Internet from February 2008, combining TV and the Internet into a single, integrated offering.
According to the controller of BBC Three, Danny Cohen, the company aims to make BBC Three Britain’s most ambitious multi-platform network, where content can move seamlessly between TV, online and mobile.
The channel will feature new programming, including Lily Allen and Friends; a social networking show; a comedy sketch show called The Wrong Door, which will feature computer animations; and a second series of Gavin and Stacey and Heroes 2.
Live coverage of the Africa Cup of Nations and the Glastonbury festival will also be broadcast.
