Video Furnace announces STB for IP video
Video Furnace, an IP video solutions company, recently introduced a low-cost digital set-top box (STB) for delivering video to network-connected television sets. The solution is targeted at enterprises, public sector and other organisations.
The STB works in conjunction with the Video Furnace IP video distribution system to convert TVs into IP-connected devices. This allows live, broadcast and on-demand video to be delivered to television sets on the organisation’s network.
The solution fulfils customer demand for digital signage and internal communication applications. It can be used to stream video to network-connected TVs in a meeting room or public area for training, information and other purposes.
A picture-in-picture screen allows other media, slideshows for example, to be shown at the same time as the streamed video.
The Video Furnace system is designed to be easy to install and use, with low maintenance costs. Uniquely in the marketplace, it supports all operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris 10, and there is no need for additional software or hardware on connected devices.
Video Furnace’s InStream viewer arrives with the video stream and disappears when viewing ends, removing the need for end-user software.
