BT Vision on track for 100,000 subscribers this year
BT Vision, the broadband video service, is ahead of schedule on achieving its target of 100,000 customers by the end of 2007. The company has already signed up this number of customers, although installations stand at just 70,000.
The company is currently gaining around 5,000 customers each week and expects to have signed up at least 2 million customers by the end of 2011. The represents nine thousand net new customers a week for four years.
Separately, research company, MRG has increased its global forecasts of IPTV subscribers from 63.6 million to 72.6 million in 2011.
MRG revised the figures upwards due to increased optimism for market success in China, India and Korea.
MRG expects Europe to maintain its lead in terms of IPTV subscriber numbers to 2011, but Asia is expected to surpass Europe in 2012-2013.
North American companies, Verizon and AT&T, are growing faster than expected, and MRG now expects Verizon to be the world’s largest IPTV service provider in 2011.
