Ten Alps launches Kent TV

by Jan Harris

Bob Geldof’s production company, Ten Alps, has launched Kent TV, the first local authority broadband TV channel in the UK.

The council funded, on-demand channel is available at www.kenttv.com. It features local information and council listings, with news stories from local newspaper, the Kent News. The channel is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Local people can contribute to the channel by uploading their own content. Revenues from advertising on the site go back to the council.

Ten Alps, which is operating the channel on behalf of Kent County Counci, is working with seven local production companies to make content for the site, which is produced at the company’s studios in Maidstone.

Ten Alps also runs Teachers TV.
