Inuk selects Widevine Cypher for Freewire IPTV
At the IBC2007 conference in Amsterdam, Widevine Technologies announced that its Widevine Cypher solution has been chosen by Inuk Networks, to ensure the secure delivery of premium broadcast channels and video on demand (VOD) content for Freewire.
Inuk’s Freewire service is the UK’s first IPTV deployment for the PC. It comprises a virtual set-top box solution, via which Inuk can deliver television to a PC or Mac, with full PVR capabilities.
On-screen information and controls are displayed within a customisable electronic programme guide, which can be viewed on the computer.
Inuk selected Widevine Cypher because it provides a multiplatform, multiformat downloadable conditional access and digital rights management solution with digital copy protection.
It was found to be the only content security solutions which provided all these features and could be easily integrated into the Freewire platform, to support both set-top box and PC platforms.
Widevine Technologies is the world’s leading provider of downloadable content protection, forensic watermarking and digital copy protection solutions.
Triple-play service provider, Inuk Networks, will launch Freewire this month.
