East Midlands Television launched
East Midlands Television (EMTV), the UK’s newest regional television broadcaster, was launched in June 2007.
Using IPTV and satellite technology, EMTV has a potential global audience of millions. EMTV programming is available via any PC with broadband access at http://www.emtv.tv
EMTV is part of the Narrowstep internet broadcasting platform. Narrowstep Inc is a leading provider of Internet TV services using its telvOS technology.
In October 2008, EMTV will be added to British Sky Broadcasting’s network - making it available to over eight million BSKYB customers in the UK and Ireland.
Although EMTV is available globally, it will focus on providing local news, weather and information. Its entertainment programming will also have an East Midlands theme.
According to EMTV’s Managing Director, Mr Stewart Rickersey, EMTV has the potential to become the most technologically sophisticated television production system in Europe.
Through a new technology developed by OmniBus, EMTV will be able to operate a totally tapeless environment and compete with much larger rival broadcasters.
The company has already secured a number of content partnerships including a three-year contract to cover the Lawn Tennis Association’s sporting events.
