4Caster C4 Wins TelcoTV 2008 Vision Award
Last week’s TelcoTV 2008 conference in Anaheim, California, included the prestigious industry TelcoTV Vision Award.
The winner was announced at a ceremony during the event and the award went to Envivio for its 4Caster C4 Three Screens multi-channel, multi-profile encoder.
The C4 is used in IPTV, Internet TV and Mobile TV applications and was selected by industry insiders for its ability to send live broadcasts directly to multiple screens as well as a wide array of mobile devices, set top boxes and PCs.
This is the first encoding system that is capable of compression for all Three Screens end-user devices utilising just a single platform.
It can also deliver to each of these different devices simultaneously, taking in the signal and encoding it into the different requirements of these very different types of image display.
The C4 can make use of MPEG-2, digital and analogue streams via IP inputs with many audio and video encoding options and convert them to content suitable for the Three Screens.
They can make use of multiple standard definition encoding channels including picture in picture capabilities.
There are two compression options, Premium and Extreme, depending on the customer’s requirements.
There is also an option for content provision suitable for use with Windows Media Player, QuickTime and VLC.
