Open IPTV Forum welcomes Thomson

by Jan Harris

Thomson, a French leader in video solutions, has become the latest member of the growing Open IPTV Forum.

The Forum is an alliance of IPTV industry professionals, dedicated to developing end-to-end open specifications for IPTV services and offering consumers a plug- and-play experience.

Thomson will add its engineering resources to the forum, and its expertise in end-to-end IPTV solutions and Triple Play, to help bring open standards to the market.

The forum aims to ensure interoperability of networked devices, both within the home and with third party applications, enabling consumers to use interactive services without having to worry about the underlying technologies.

The founding members of the forum include Telecom Italia, Ericsson, FT Group, Nokia Siemens Networks, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung and Sony.
