Could IPTV be the next gold rush?
Well if you believe what some people say then you could well do, but as with any new market, there can be hills and valleys. Yet it would appear that in the US companies wishing to stake a claim in the field of a new technology, are being advised to get involved in television, but not in the true sense of the word, i.e. producing their own programmes, but IPTV or to be more precise, selling IPTV services.
Ever since the huge rise of YouTube coupled together with the much improved live web based video conferencing, and the fact that the cost and ease of producing quality video content, it is clear that there are some significant opportunities within the industry. However you only need to spend a few minutes on sites like YouTube to notice that there is a huge difference in quality of both the video and indeed the content available, the trick is to get all of the high quality content into a few really great networks.
The route to any success is knowing and understanding the consumer, whose tastes do change over a period of time, plus the content its self, has to be of a good quality which also needs to continuous otherwise the consumers will be off and onto the next provider as quickly as the came in the first place.
