TANDBERG launches MediaModeler

by Jan Harris

TANDBERG Television has launched its MediaModeler Content Management System which will allow operators to provide enhanced video search, discover and scheduling capabilities.

The new technology promises to increase customer satisfaction by enabling the user experience to be personalized, and offer operators new Internet revenue opportunities through the convergence of TV, PC and mobile services.

The Diffusion Group recently estimated that 40% of broadband users watch at least one hour a week of video on the Internet.

The MediaModeler Content Management System can provide enhanced video search and scheduling features to this growing market, offering content blended from their television service operator and from video sharing and other Internet video sites.

This is achieved through a flexible database structure which supports fully customisable metadata profiles.

The system can also automatically enhance metadata associated with ingested video assets by interfacing with third party metadata services and Web 2.0 sources.

Operators can build rich search and discovery video portals by simply adding support for new sources of metadata, allowing them to differentiate and enhance their service.

TANBERG is demonstrating the system at NXTcomm in Las Vegas, June 17-19, 2008.
