Picture in Picture IPTV is On The Way
Apparently you asked for it, and now you have it, Tilgin has announced that it is now capable of delivering Picture in Picture services (PiP) for HD IPTV.
They company says that its Mood 400 IP Set-top Media Centre is now capable of offering the much requested facility.
PiP has been a popular feature on regular TV screen for many years but has not been available for IPTV.
The service is popular because it allows viewers to watch another channel at the same time as viewing their selected channel.
People often use this facility when waiting for a movie or sports event to begin, but also on occasion to allow them to watch two shows or sports events that are being transmitted simultaneously.
The system being offered by Tilgin is pretty sophisticated, allowing for as many as eight preview windows to be on screen at one time.
The set top box can support DLNA/UPnP, SIP and IMS. This means that other services can be utilized such as Remote Access and Instant Messaging.
There is even a Caller ID function as well as standard VoIP and several other possible media and communication functions.
The company previewed the service at this week’s IBC extravaganza in Amsterdam.
