DigiSoft.tv launches mobile phone tracking solution
DigiSoft.tv, a Cork-based IPTV provider and Tech Mahindra Ltd, a provider of solutions and services to the telecoms industry, are launching DigiTracker, which allows mobile phones to be tracked by users of IPTV services from their TV.
DigiTracker is designed for global IPTV operators to allow viewers to see the current location of mobile phones, and to allow text and SMS messages to be sent to the phone.
The application uses integrations to Location Based Services (LBS) and mapping systems to plot the location of the mobile phone on a map and display the information on the TV.
The technology is expected to appeal to parents who wish to keep an eye on the location of their children.
It has a large potential market, with IPTV currently being rolled out globally. Over 20,000 new viewers per week are signing up for IPTV in the US alone.
DigiSoft’s technology will also allow IPTV operators to differentiate their services from those of satellite and cable TV operators.
