UK magazines go for IPTV

Magazine publisher Hachette Filipacchi UK are to use the services of Brightcove, the internet TV service provider, to roll out their magazine branded internet video channels.

By using a service like Brightcove this will enable Hachette Filipacchi UK to expand their magazine brands into the realm of on line video space, which will help them reach out to other on line communities that have been inaccessible to them in the past, this will increase the brands readership and in turn will provide them with additional advertising revenues.

The first magazine to be launched onto Brightcove will be the flagship brand ELLE, and will go under the name ELLEUK.com, visitors to the site will be able to view daily internet news covering fashion events, travel stories and style & beauty tips.

The UK market is actually leading the way when it comes to watching video on line, and for a establish market leaders like ELLE this is an ideal opportunity to into this market and explore all the opportunities that exist already in internet video programming that can marry so well with the content that they provide in their magazine format.

This is the first step in the partnership between Brightcove and Hachette Filipacchi UK, with other magazine brands to follow later on in the year.
