BigBand’s Next Gen Personalised Media Services
The BigBand Media Services Platform, MSP2000, should prove useful to broadband service providers by allowing them to deliver more relevant advertising across cable, DSL, fibre and wireless access networks
BigBand Networks has set the introduction of a new network-based media processing platform for broadband service providers for early next year.
This will assist with the transition from a broadcast video distribution model to personalised video delivery.
This new platform will deliver video services which will include IPTV, addressable advertising multi-channel HD, as well as the increasingly important value-added interactive services.
Respected industry analyst, In-Stat, is predicting that the worldwide market for digital video networking equipment will reach $2 billion per annum within four years.
They believe that consumers are looking for personalised on-demand TV services.
Consumers also want HDTV content which will ultimately translate as a massive increase in demand for bandwidth.
They consider that this rapid and large scale growth will demand a highly flexible and expandable system for delivering these services as they emerge and grow.
BigBand thinks that they have the answer to these needs with their MSP2000 which will be is deployed across the headend and the hub.
They claim the advantage of their system is that it will allow very large scale personal media applications.
They say that their system is well suited to these upcoming provider and consumer needs because of its ease of movement and management of content.
