IPTV Well Equipped for Advertising

by Kathryn Lang

IPTV is inherently better equipped to take advantage of advertising than traditional television will ever be. Because the technology is designed to understand a viewer’s likes and interests, it can target the audience that it needs.

One of the keys to great advertising is relevance. In order to entice consumers, ads must interest those consumers. IPTV is able to pinpoint the audience that would be interested in a particular product and run ads for that market only. Advertisers buy time slots, just like with traditional television, but they submit multiple ads that will be released to particular demographics. The message becomes more personally appealing to the viewer.

IPTV technology also offers advertisers the benefit of knowing just who is watching and when. The internet provides a more accurate reporting method and a detailed audience measurement. This is just one more way that advertisers can benefit with IPTV over traditional broadcasting.

As IPTV subscriptions continue to grow through out the world, advertisers and providers alike are taking notice of the benefits offered by the technology. Many vendors and others in the industry are actively seeking the best solution for taking advantage of the unique opportunities that IPTV holds for the market.

Advertising over IPTV will not only benefit the advertisers. Viewers will find that targeted marketing provides fewer distractions and more relevant information for them and their families.
