Tiscali targets 200,000 broadband TV subscribers
Tiscali, which recently recorded a fall in subscriber numbers, is fighting back with an ambitious target of 200,000 TV over broadband subscribers by the end of 2008.
Since acquiring on-demand TV service, HomeChoice, in 2006, the company’s customer numbers have fallen from 45,000 to 36,000 according to its third quarter results.
In an interview with Reuters, Mary Turner, the chief executive Tiscali UK claimed that Tiscali is currently receiving 250 new registrations each day.
Tiscali expects to have around 50,000 registered customers by the end of this year.
It has been building its LLU network infrastructure and plans to launch an ad campaign in the New Year to attract new customers to its triple-play broadband, telephony and TV service.
The company has been waiting for its network to be complete before launching the ad campaign, in order not to repeat the mistake of rivals.
Tiscali has been moving customers from BT-managed infrastructure to its own network. The move gives in greater control over the service. Tiscali’s network now covers 55 percent of the country.
