Tiscali TV loses customers

by Jan Harris

Tiscali TV had just 36,000 subscribers at the end of October 2007, a fall from the 45,000 HomeChoice subscribers recorded in August 2006.

Tiscali and HomeChoice merged in August 2006, and Tiscali has suffered from delays in rolling out the service nationally.

HomeChoice’s subscribers were mainly based in North and West London and Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Tiscali has now completed migrating HomeChoice customers from third party networks onto its own unbundled network. Tiscali has approximately 800 unbundled exchanges covering 55% of the UK.

Separately, Tiscali recently announced that its children’s IPTV channel ‘Scamp’ has been shortlisted for ‘channel of the year’ in the 2007 British Academy Children’s Awards (BAFTA).

It is the first time an on-demand channel has been shortlisted for a BAFTA.

The shortlist also includes CBeebies, Nickelodeon UK and Nick Jr UK, and the winner will be announced on 25 November.
