IPTV fastest growing TV platform in Europe
According to research from market intelligence company InfoCom, at the end of 2006 Europe held the largest IPTV market share.
In the four largest continental countries, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, the number of IPTV users in 2005 has doubled to approximately 1.65 million at the end of 2006.
Although less than 2% of the total number of TV viewers watch IPTV, the internet TV is the fastest growing TV platform.
The total number of subscribers in Europe, including the UK is around 2.2 million and this is expected to grow to 4.5 million by the end of 2007.
The largest IPTV market is France, which has 60% of the subscriber base of the four largest countries. It is expected to grow to around 1 million by the end of 2007.
