Spirent demos IPTV tools at World Forum
Spirent Communications Plc has announced the launch of two new products which could accelerate global IPTV adoption. The company is demonstrating the products at Junction Ltd’s IPTV World Forum in London, March 12 - 14.
The company has launched the Video Quality Analyzer (VQA), which allows network equipment manufacturers and service providers to assess more than one hundred metrics related to delivering high quality IPTV, including video quality.
Spirent’s second new product is the TIA-921A feature on Spirent GEM, a hardware-based Ethernet Network Impairment Emulator from Anue Systems.
The emulator allows users to emulate the ‘real-world network,’ enabling them to resolve technology and delivery problems before rolling out the IPTV service to customers.
Providing video quality on a level with, or better than existing TV services, is considered a key element in determining whether IPTV will be successful in the market for HD TV services.
Because IPTV is complex to deliver, relative minor content or network impairments can significantly affect the end user experience.
Spirent’s new tools will allow IPTV services to be tested, monitored and analysed under ‘real world’ conditions before they are deployed, helping to ensure quality to the customer.
