Orange UK adopts Witbe technology for VoD rollout

by Jan Harris

Communications company, Orange UK, is to deploy technology from Witbe to help with its nationwide rollout of video on demand (VoD) services.

Witbe develops and operates software solutions which help manage the performance of information systems.

Its technology will help Orange monitor the possible impact of last mile issues and parasitic signal interferences in the home environment, during the soft rollout of VoD.

With Witbe robots placed at key points in the architecture, end-to-end video performance is segmented among the home environment, last mile, access network, and core network, allowing issues to identified and corrected before the service is rolled-out.

After rollout, Witbe’s IPTV-VOD monitoring solutions will help assess and maintain quality and user experience as the VOD service is extended, both technically and commercially.
