Astute Networks Announces Edge Storage Blades
The industry’s first edge storage products will be produced by Astute Networks, Inc., which will take part in the crucial step to help telecom customers deploy content efficiently.
Products include the Caspian R1100 Edge Storage Blade and the Caspian E1112 RTM Storage Blade, which will be used to deliver voice, video and data to the edge of network, and are the first of their kind with high performance, carrier grade reliability, rack density, power and cooling efficiencies, and deployment simplicities.
Previously, carriers would need to use the traditional method of a range of fibre channel storage, a very high cost method of storage, which can now be replaced with a simplified, low cost and effective storage blade.
The development of the R1100 and E1112 will set the standard for companies introducing similar product lines, increasing productivity, while still ensuring the cost implications are minimal, and still providing the same features that traditional server blades do.
Of course the value of the effectiveness, as well as traditional features, is imperative to sustain the growth in the market, especially with many carriers feeling the need to deploy services such as storage applications IPTV, IMS, and VoD into their IP networks.
