IPTV Provider Pool Is Shrinking

by Kathryn Lang

In the IPTV, like many industries today, the big fish are looking to eat the little fish. As the larger providers continue to devour the smaller companies and as the larger providers also offer niche technology and equipment, the pool of independent IPTV providers will continue to shrink.

With the continued absorption of the smaller providers, the landscape of the entire IPTV industry is bound to change. These changes will not just affect the IPTV industry, but they will continue to resound through out the entire IP market.

IPTV was originally a market littered with small providers. The larger vendors didn’t seem to have the flexibility needed to keep up with the industry. The times are changing.
As the importance of IPTV continues to grow, and as the technology continues its shift from cutting edge to main stream, more companies will seek to become a part of the market.

The industry is shifting from the start up small providers to companies that are able to meet all the consumers’ needs in a single stop. Think of these new companies as the Mega Mart for IPTV technology. With the shift turning to the large companies, the small and medium companies are falling through the cracks – although there are some new vendors stepping into the market to meet the needs of these niches.

The large companies are seeking out the best of the best in the small IPTV vendors. This means that what is left is also starting to dwindle in quality.
