Inuk expands Freewire IPTV with MGt technology
Inuk is adding subscriber management services from Kirkcaldy-based MGt, to its Freewire broadband TV service in a five-year, multi-million pound deal.
Inuk currently provides a mix of free-to-air and premium channels directly to a customers PC, in a triple play package of video, voice and data.
The service is provided to 100,000 students in halls of residences, but Inuk hopes to extend the service to the general UK population and also to international markets.
The new contract involves the co-development of a unified customer interaction solution, with MGt providing software, technical support, CRM, subscription fulfilment and customer billing.
Inuk believes Freewire TV will appeal to households unable to receive digital TV by existing means. It could also appeal to households who are unable to install a conventional aerial or satellite dish.
Freewire TV is deployed to students over the JANET high-speed network, which connects UK universities.
Inuk is also developing a customised version of Freewire for the wholesale broadband market.
