Boom ahead for Internet TV advertising
Understanding & Solutions, a Dunstable-based specialist information and consulting company, expects Internet television advertising revenue to equal 18 percent of all Internet advertising by 2011.
The company expects worldwide Internet television ad revenues for 2011 to be around $10 billion, nearly double the $5.8 billion recently forecast by market research firm iSuppli.
According to Alison Casey, Business Director at Understanding & Solutions, “Internet TV will challenge the traditional broadcast industry through rights distribution, on-demand content versus linear broadcast and the generation of advertising revenues”.
Understanding & Solutions estimates that the amount of video on the Internet is doubling each year, with over 20 billion videos now being streamed across the Web per month on a global basis.
With this level of penetration, more broadcasters and producers are publishing content online, despite concerns over copyright.
Understanding & Solutions warns that growth will bring its own problems and will challenge the national boundaries that govern broadcasting.
