APAC region emerging in global IPTV market
A report from RNCOS titled “Global IPTV- Market Analysis and Forecast to 2011”, predicts that the Asia-Pacific region will soon emerge as a stronger competitor, and will in time outpace the European IPTV industry.
The report is a work of thorough research on the global IPTV industry and examines global as well as regional IPTV subscriber base, service revenue, ARPU, broadband subscribers, and IPTV households among other market elements.
Six countries in the APAC region appeared in the world’s top twenty rankings for strong broadband penetration, as measured by the International telecommunications Union. The broadband penetration of the region will fuel the growth in IPTV.
India and China are registering sharp rises in broadband subscriptions and, together with The Philippines, will join South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Macao, in the growing APAC marketplace.
The American market is expected to be the most competitive IPTV market in the world, largely due to high existing pay-TV penetration, stiff prices and service competition.
IPTV subscribers worldwide are forecast to reach to 103 million in 2011. The Americas and Western Europe are expected to be the biggest markets on revenue per user basis.
