US operator AT&T has broken the 100,000 customers barrier for its U-verse IPTV service milestone less than a year after starting to scale the service into multiple markets. U-verse is offered across nine states, and includes features that are not currently available with any other provider.

AT&T, which is the largest provider of both local and long distance telephone services, wireless service, and DSL Internet access in the United States, is planning to introduce new features and content in the US from the end of September 2007.

The company plans to begin offering new features such as AT&T U-bar, which delivers Internet-like content to the TV screen such as customised weather, stock, traffic and sports information. In addition, YELLOWPAGES.COM TV, will be a new way to search for local businesses and other information.

AT&T will also launch AT&T Yahoo! Games for the service, which will bring games to the television screen including Sudoku, Solitaire, JT’s Blocks, Mah-Jongg tiles and chess.

During the next few months, new content will be made available including new high definition channels, including Lifetime Movie Network HD, History Channel HD, Animal Planet HD, TBS HD and Versus/The Golf Channel HD.
