BT Vision and Microsoft partner for Xbox IPTV
Microsoft Corp and BT group are entering into a partnership to bring BT Vision’s IPTV service to Microsoft’s Xbox 360 games and entertainment consoles.
Through the partnership, which was announced at the CES event in Las Vegas, BT broadband customers will be able to receive high-definition gaming, television and movies through the console from the middle of 2008.
With an Xbox 360 console, BT Broadband customers will be able to access the BT Vision service and its library of on-demand content, including sporting events, television programming and music videos.
BT Vision customers with an Xbox 360 console will be able to access BT Vision from either the Xbox 360 console or a set-top-box.
BT Vision is powered by the Microsoft Mediaroom Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) platform. The partnership will add the benefits of next-generation gaming and social network Xbox LIVE.
Users will benefit from a connected entertainment experience and be able to receive messages from friends while watching TV or playing a game.
BT Vision is available to anyone with a BT Broadband connection with
suitable minimum line speed and a BT Home Hub.
