Inuk adds Barclays Premier League Football

by Jan Harris

Inuk Networks is launching a new premium TV package - Freewire TV Extra: Student Pack - which will include live Barclays Premier League games on the Setanta Sports 1 channel.

The service will be available to students in university halls of residence when the new academic year starts in September.

The provision of the 46 Barclays Premier League games for the 2007/08 season is expected to be a key factor in attracting viewers to the service, and is expected to appeal the young adult demographic.

The package will include 20 premium entertainment, music and sports channels, including MTV, VH1, Smash Hits TV, Kiss TV, The Box Q TV and Kerrang! TV. Setanta Sports 1 will be offered as an add-on.

The Setanta Sports 1 channel focuses on live sports programming. As well as the Barclays Premier League games, it features 60 Bank of Scotland Scottish Premier League games, British Touring Car Championship and PGA Golf.

Under the terms of the agreement, Setanta will receive a fee for each subscriber to the Freewire TV Extra pack. It will also keep the rights to advertising revenues on the Setanta channel.

Freewire TV offers UK and international free-to-air television channels via the high-speed JANET academic network.

The Freewire Extra: Student Pack will cost under £10 a month.
