IPTV To Spread To Mainstream
Internet protocol television (IPTV) subscriptions just keep growing and growing. It is expected that this year (2007) the IPTV services will nearly triple.
The increased number of consumers is fueling the development of IPTV technology. It is also giving a boost to sales of IPTV related equipment.
As the revenues continue to rise for the industry, it will continue to give life to new capabilities, new competition, and increased variety in programming and services being offered. It is the consumer who will win biggest during this IPTV surge.
Industry experts are predicting that 2007 will be the transition year for IPTV. Up until now, the technology has been utilized by techies. It is expected that the market will open up this year to more mainstream consumers.
The influx of IPTV will be a world wide event and not just something in a specific region.
Another bonus to the increased number of subscriptions will be the further investment of revenues for increased network bandwidth and capacity.
In anticipation to the future growth and technological advances of IPTV, optical networking equipment will also see increased sales. Long-haul optical WAN equipment will be the top-performing sector in the communications networking equipment market. Revenues are expected to rise about 40 percent.
Very few industries will not be affected by the growth in IPTV. Among the few left unaffected will be LAN switches and hubs area.
