ITN Selects Carbon Coder Transcoding Technology
ITN is not only one of the big two news companies, it is also a major player in the world of Internet delivered news globally.
Now they have enlisted the services of California based Harmonic Inc, or to be more precise the company’s Rhozet media transcoding technology and their Carbon Coder for transcoding and packaging of news and other online content.
ITN not only operates its own major news website it also supplies large amounts of content through other services such as Vodafone, MSN, Yahoo!, Orange, T-Mobile, Mirror Group, Virgin Media, Telegraph Group, YouTube and Bebo.
The ever increasing amount of content to be distributed through a seemingly never ending variety of new outlets forced ITN to consider its options, and in the end they decided on Carbon Coder and its multi-node “farm” configuration to deal with its growing needs.
ITN already delivers up to a massive 1000 video clips every day via its mobile, broadband, IPTV and commercial archive footage clients.
According to ITN they selected Carbon Coder for its ability to “customise content to meet exacting client requirements”.
They will use Carbon Coders XML-based API to integrate into their existing systems and allow the company to evaluate the workflow status during transcoding.
Carbon Coder will allow ITN the ability to transfer media across various platforms while editing, playout and archiving the content in one operation.
