Farncombe Technology partners for Tiscali TV

by Jan Harris

Tiscali UK has appointed Farncombe Technology to help with its UK triple-play network rollout.

Tiscali TV, which was launched on 1 March 2007, will be rolled out this summer to existing customers. By the end of the year the service should be available to over 10 million UK homes.

Dr Stephen Upton, Farncombe Technology’s CEO, has been appointed interim director of technology operations with responsibility for optimising the performance of Tiscali’s unbundled IPTV, voice and broadband network.

He will also complete the integration of Video Networks Limited’s networks in London and Stevenage.

Dr Upton ran cable company NTL’s next-generation network as MD of the company’s Networks Division. He joined Farncombe Technology in December 2006.
