Deutsche Telekom cuts price of IPTV package by 25%
Deutsche Telekom has cut the price of its entry-level IPTV packages as part of an initiative to boost uptake in Germany. Live domestic football coverage also forms part of the company’s plan to entice new customers.
Deutsche Telekom aims to reach 200,000 customers for its IPTV services by the end of this year, and 1.5 million by 2010.
The price of the entry-level triple-play package has been cut by around 25% from the previous €81.26, which includes voice, broadband and TV. Customers in Deutsche Telekom’s broadband upgrade areas can now get the package, renamed Entertain Comfort, for €59.95, gaining access to 70 TV channels, additional pay-TV channels and on-demand content, high-speed DSL access and unlimited fixed-line calls within Germany.
In an attempt to attract new customers, Deutsche Telekom is offering free access to all Bundesliga live football games for the entire season to the first 20,000 customers to sign up to the service.
Any customers who sign up to the service before October 31 will get three months of football for free. The standard price for adding access to Bundesiga games is €9.99 per month.
The largest telecommunications company in Germany and in the EU, Deutsche Telekom provides network access, communication services and value-added services with ever increasing bandwidth via the fixed and mobile networks.
