RGB Networks and CASTIS Collaborate to Deliver Integrated VOD Solution
RGB Networks and CASTIS will join forces on VOD (Video on Demand) solutions that will allow cable operators to increase demand content by 50 percent, through integration of RGB’s Dynamic Bandwidth Manager (DBM) and CASTIS’ Castanets® cable VOD system.
“We are very pleased to be working with CASTIS, one of the leading VOD server vendors in the Asia Pacific region, to deliver an interoperable VOD solution to our customers,” said Nick Hutton, Vice President, Asia Pacific for RGB Networks. “The combination of RGB’s Dynamic Bandwidth Manager and CASTIS’ VOD platform is an ideal solution for cable operators throughout the region, enabling them to deliver more VOD programming without the expense of upgrading their network infrastructure or adding new QAM modulators, and without affecting the user experience.”
“As the popularity of VOD increases and the demand for HD VOD continues to grow rapidly, operators require a cost-effective way to deliver more on demand content within their existing network infrastructure,” said Seung-Hak Kim, CEO of CASTIS. “Our joint solution with RGB will allow operators to easily deliver more high-bandwidth services to their customers while avoiding costly upgrades and preserving the ‘trick-play’ feature that VOD users have come to expect.”
The DBM, lowers VOD bandwidth through processing up to 1,200 programmes, which in turn, makes for a more effective cost-per-stream for the operator. As well as cost effective, the new system will be user friendly; a simple plug in for the DBM, into the existing VOD is all operators need.
All of the above gains show no signs of sacrifice, as picture quality is fully sustained.
