Oki Audience Rating Information System

by Grant Draper

A new “Audience Rating Information System” has been developed for the Japanese IPTV market, which will collect data which will then be used to improve companies’ services for their consumers, thanks to Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd.

The Rating Information System will be introduced across IP networks via eVideo technology, and Oki plans to present the information to ASTAP and FG-IPTV in ITU.

The latest development by Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd is very significant, with today’s market for IPTV booming more than ever, and as Japanese telecoms carriers continue to expand, so will the market and its services.

Ground based broadcasting already has particular operations in place to collect data, but nothing has been introduced to the IPTV market until now.

Of course, OKI cannot just take the data that it wants. To allow the Audience Rating Information System to do its job, OKI need the authorization from the users, and must then organize the data in a rating library, where the information can be printed, or compiled into reports.

This new technology, known as Audience Rating Libraries, can be easily embedded in the STB, or connected using a Home Gateway.
