The Largest Independent in Quebec, Sogetel Expands Services to Include VoIP and IPTV

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Occam Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:OCNW), a leading supplier to telecommunications companies of Ethernet and IP-based loop carrier equipment, revealed Sogetel INC, Quebec’s largest telephone company, has purchased Occam’s Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) 6000 solution.
The purchase will mean complete the upgrade to the network enabling subscribers VoIP and IPTV services from its service provider.

“We have been impressed with the flexibility and scalability of the Occam BLC platform, and we are able to streamline procedures within our organization since Occam utilizes many of the same programming languages as our existing Cisco products,” said Yves Duval, Sogetel’s chief operation officer. “Sogetel has a long history of investing in the highest quality infrastructure products so that we may continuously offer our subscribers new services. Our purchase of Occam access equipment continues that tradition.”

Sogetel offers landline and wireless, both local and long distance phone services, as well as high-speed broadband services, and maintain over 26,000 access lines. Over 35 sites will see the deployment of Occam equipment across the service area. Sogetels purchase includes Ocaam’s BLC 6252 POTS, ADSL2plus Combo Blade and BLC 6214 ADSL2plus blade.

Engineers will push electronics closer to premises in the communities Sogetel servces, to offer IPTV, and will deploy FTTP in areas where replacing copper lines in a necessity.
