blinkx BBTV fuses TV with the Web
Video search engine, blinkx, has launched blinkx BBTV, which provides a new kind of online television than exploits the potential of the Internet.
blinkx BBTV uses the company’s patented speech and visual recognition technology to deliver TV over the Internet, while using the information available on the Web to add dimension and context to the viewing experience.
blinkx BBTV is available to download for free at blinkxbbtv.com from today. It provides a library of premium independent films and other programming from existing partners.
The service is provided via hybrid peer-to-peer streaming technology and a simple, point-and-click channel interface.
Viewers of blinkx BBTV’s high-quality, full-length, professional TV programming, can browse or interact with online sources relevant to the content they are viewing.
The service provides video indexing, which automatically creates a speech track of content within the video. Viewers can search for a spoken word or name, and jump to specific points in the programme.
Other features include transcripts of the audio track, background information on actors, and reviews.
