Sri Lanka Joins World IPTV Club

by Alan Harten

The latest member of the IPTV club is the war torn island of Sri Lanka.

The country’s national telecom company, Sri Lanka Telecom, selected UTStarcom to add the hardware to make the system work.

They in turn have farmed out some parts of the end-to-end IPTV solution to companies including Optibase Ltd who will provide the digital video solutions.

UTStarcom’s RollingStream advanced IPTV solution will be used with the Optibase H.264 streaming platforms, to provide the first triple play solution on the large island.

This will be Optibase’s first real step into the highly competitive and lucrative Asian market for IPTV.

They are also confident of more co-operations with UTStarcom in the region.
