ADB’s set-top boxes selected by Telekom Austria
Telekom Austria, the fixed network segment of Telekom Austria Group, has selected Advanced Digital Broadcast to supply high definition, Advanced Video Coding ADB-3800W IPTV set-top boxes for its IPTV television services.
In addition to 82 TV programmes, the IPTV television service includes Video-on-Demand comprising movies, series and documentaries, an electronic programme guide and information services, incorporating news, traffic information, and radio channels.
ADB's ability to develop and integrate key software components has established the company as one of the leaders in the supply of IPTV technology. The ADB-3800 platform has already been successfully launched in volume on a number of commercial IPTV networks and has gained two prestigious industry awards.
Helmut Leopold, Head of Platform and Technology Management at Telekom Austria, said: "Telekom Austria selected ADB as a result of its proven ability as a trusted and experienced supplier of set-top boxes to the IPTV market. We needed a partner who could offer a very efficient route to market and ADB had the necessary experience in hardware and software integration required to meet our launch expectations.
"We anticipate that there will be an overwhelming response for our IPTV service which is a very important part of our triple play service offering, targeted at residential customers".
The ADB-3800W is an advanced IPTV set-top box incorporating standard definition (SD: 37.64, +1.64, +4.55%) and HDTV reception and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. The unit enables operators to optimise their broadcast bandwidth, while presenting consumers with the highest quality in sound and vision.
ADB provides a diverse range of products to the worldwide digital television industry, supplying digital set-top boxes across all television transmission platforms including cable, IPTV, satellite and terrestrial. More than ten million digital set-top boxes have been sold worldwide.
